It’s time to rethink our approach to prototyping, at Service Design Bristol

At the end of January Chloe & Sam took to the stage at Service Design Bristol to share some of their latest thinking about how we can rethink our approach to prototyping.

They talked through the top excuses that they often hear that can shut down an attempt to prototype the next big idea;

  1. We don’t have enough time
  2. We can’t invest in this right now
  3. We simply can’t prototype that
  4. We already know what we want to do
Chloe & Sam doing their thing!

And shared some of the techniques that we can use to overcome them including;

  • Acting out a new idea with role play,
  • Writing down your idea to be able to share it,
  • To using AI to bring another perspective to your workflow.

It was a brilliant turn out for a chilly January evening with over 90 attendees, another brilliant talk from Andrew Hick at Government Digital Services about how we can make services more accessible (you can find his talk over here) and, loads of brilliant and engaged questions and conversations afterwards.

If you’d like to take a further look, here’s our deck, including the full speaker notes.

Thanks for having us Service Design Bristol, we’ll definitely be at the next one!
