SDinGov spotlight speakers: Why we should still care about inclusivity

After a two year freeze on ‘in person’ conferences, we are excited to share the news that a whole clutch of cxpartners UX consultants are winging their way to Bonnie Scotland next week for the annual Service Design in Government (SDinGOV) conference. Described as the ‘original international community event for anyone involved in designing and commissioning public services’, SDinGov is back in full force from Wednesday 28th – Friday 30th September 2022.

Aimed at anyone who manages, designs or develops central and local government services including health and education, emergency sector, civic technologies this has become an unmissable event in the cxpartners calendar. This 3-day event features a mixture of inspiring keynotes, engaging live sessions, interactive group sessions, speaker Q&A’s and is a unique chance to meet and share experiences with fellow practitioners.

Applying inclusive user centred design in practice

One must see session in this diverse programme of talks and workshops is by cxpartners very own Megan Simmons and Chloe Langan. As researchers and UX design consultants working mainly in our government pod of experts, Chloe and Megan have a wealth of experience running a number of government projects. In the 45 minute workshop, they will share their research insights from a wide range of participants including charities, research participants, recruiters and User Centred Design (UCD) professionals.

It’s a lot to pack into one talk but this is a must attend session for anyone who is looking to run more inclusive research sessions aimed at a wider range of participants.

Highlights from this workshop will include:

  • Key insights from research with UCD team members
  • First hand perspectives from research participants, charities and recruiters
  • A chance to share ideas on how to effectively reach voices that are currently missing in research
  • Sharing useful tools and best practices that are currently being tested as part of inclusive research practice.

As National Inclusion Week for Employers also coincides with the SDinGov conference, there can be no better time to attend this insightful and inclusive session.
