Contact us

This is a full-time, permanent role in our Bristol office. You will be working in our Financial Services ‘pod’, one of our client-focused, mini ‘business units’ (read Giles’ blog about pods here and check out what the team have been up to here). You’ll be reporting to, and working closely with, our Creative Director, and form part of our growing design team.

User-centred design is at the core of everything we do at cxpartners. We’re looking for a Senior Visual Designer to help us create digital experiences that make a real difference to people’s lives.

This is a senior role, so you’ll be:

  • Comfortable presenting your work and rationale to both clients and internal teams.
  • Capable of running effective internal and client-facing workshops.
  • Experienced in mentoring and leading junior designers.

In the role you’ll:

  • Work collaboratively
Truly effective and innovative design solutions come from cross-functional teams. Our project teams include researchers, interaction designers, copywriters, technologists, project managers and clients working in unison. As well as designing, you’ll help to facilitate kick-off meetings and workshops, and analyse research. You’ll get to work in a truly agile methodology.
  • Help us use visual design to create brilliant user experiences
You’ll guide our work through the full design lifecycle – from idea to production. That means you’ll be concepting and sketching, producing design templates and patterns, documenting visual style guides, validating your designs with the people who would use them.
  • Set direction, interpret and evolve our clients’ brands
You’ll interpret our clients’ brand guidelines into digital design and develop their brand identity across digital channels. You’ll work with our Creative Director to set design direction (from visual design ideas to dummy brands and brand enhancement), coming up with ideas and pushing the client’s brand where appropriate.
  • Create designs that can be built, and are built
We get our kicks from making things that work. You’ll work with developers to ensure the quality of our designs and prototypes is maintained throughout the production workflow, and that their development teams have everything they need. We’re looking for someone who can build strong relationships within the team and with developers who will build your designs. You’ll be able to grasp what is required, and deliver it efficiently and on time.
  • Develop and explain credible rationale
Explain and rationalise the decisions that informed your designs (both internally and to our client), articulating the thought processes that you went through and foreseeing likely issues. We’ll need you to demonstrate a good manner; you’ll be thoughtful, measured, persuasive and good at listening. We’re looking for someone able to both accept and offer critique, and able to react to it in a positive and constructive way.
  • Manage the quality of our work
Ensure that all reports, presentations (including, for example, infographics, data visualisation, iconography) and documentation produced by our team are of the highest quality.
  • Support others
Our teams are coached to create a supportive environment where everyone can do great work. Where required, you’ll be able to guide more junior designers in the team.

Aside from your natural eye for composition and tone, we’d love to see:

  • Experience of designing beautiful, purposeful user interfaces for websites and apps of all shapes and sizes.
  • Experience of creating brand identities and accompanying guidelines. An enthusiasm for delving into the rationale behind your work.
  • Examples of where you have led design projects and set a creative direction that has been taken through to production.
  • 5 years experience in the industry and / or tip top design qualifications.

You’ll have significant experience in Sketch and Adobe Creative Suite – including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign. Experience Keynote and animation software is favourable.

This is a great opportunity for a skilled designer to work alongside our Creative Director within a friendly, world-class team. Our work is used by millions of people every year.
