We’re an internationally renowned experience design consultancy working with some of the biggest brands online, making a difference to millions of people around the world.

We’re looking for a full time Senior Experience Design Consultant to join our Bristol office, someone to work with our existing team, and ensure we deliver fantastic quality UX work to our clients.

You will work collaboratively in a team with other Experience Design consultants, visual designers, front-end developers, project managers and our clients to craft user-centred designs that make a difference. Working with the Bristol Experience Strategy Director, you’ll help shape the vision, goals and methods of incoming projects. You’ll lead the day-to-day running and delivery of your projects, ensuring other team members understand their own roles and responsibilities. In addition, you’ll mentor and (if appropriate) line manage more junior practitioners.

In particular, you’ll:

  • Work with clients to help them use digital to best effect and to meet their users’ needs through the delivery of excellent, innovative products and experiences.
  • Collaborate with an Experience Strategy Director (ESD) to take responsibility for the quality and UX focus of delivery; take ownership and lead projects for your clients.

  • Take day-to-day responsibility for UX activities across User Research, Interaction Design, Information Architecture, Content Strategy and Service Design, from ensuring UX delivery to hands-on production by: - Evaluating user needs, preferences and performance, for instance by conducting usability tests, user interviews, expert reviews and surveys. - Analysing research and distilling the results into compelling materials such as task models, experience maps, customer service blueprints and design deliverables. - Eliciting stakeholder feedback and buy-in, for instance by running workshops and interviews with our clients. - Documenting the user experience, for instance by creating and presenting wireframes and prototypes, user journeys, personas, information architecture, reports and other deliverables. Valuing deeply, and be skilled in, storytelling, critiquing, facilitating and presenting, to enable UX activities.
  • Demonstrate a good manner with clients; be thoughtful, measured, persuasive and good at listening. Ultimately, we’ll want our clients to feel you’ve facilitated the right decision.
  • Demonstrate a good leadership manner with colleagues; be measured, encouraging, good at listening and give clear direction. Ultimately we want our colleagues to feel they are part of an open and effective team.
  • Coach, mentor and (if appropriate) line manage more junior UX consultants on your projects.
  • Spot and develop opportunities for new business, and help your PM and ESD to shape new proposals.
  • Aim to represent cxpartners on the global UX scene. Write articles and blog, both for us and for others, engage in thoughtful, respectful discussion, and attend and speak at conferences.

Your personal qualities and experience:

You’ll have detailed knowledge and at least three years’ practical experience of user experience methodology and practices, including user-centred design. Experience of the retail sector would be a plus.

You’ll understand that great relationships are about building a sense of trust and honesty - so you won’t be afraid to have the difficult conversations that bring about long-term success. And you’ll have the emotional intelligence to understand how to have those conversations sensitively and how to develop solutions in collaboration with diverse teams.

You’ll have great communication skills (verbal and written) - the ability to listen, and to articulate complex ideas clearly, vividly, and concisely.

You’ll demonstrate gravitas - outstanding presentation, written, verbal and persuasion skills with the ability to ‘hold the room’ and tell a compelling story.

You’ll demonstrate strong attention to detail.

You’ll have the right to live and work in UK.

You’ll have been educated to degree level education, or have equivalent demonstrable experience.
