Persuasive design part 3

Posted Monday, June 25th, 2007 by Richard Caddick

A couple of things about the design were really interesting.

Firstly, the building was designed in a circle. Patients could move along the corridors but never get lost in a maze of wards or dead ends as could easily happen.

Secondly, along the corridor doors were painted different colours to either stand out or blend into the walls. Doors where staff wanted patients to go were emphasised and doors that led to riskier areas such as drug cupboards were made to blend in.

If I get any more detail I’ll post it up.
